as we celebrate our wedding in New York.

Our Story

We kissed in December 2008, the night before Jason was supposed to move away. It was the first time we had ever hung out without our friends, and we stayed up the entire night talking. After finally saying goodbye in the early morning, Jason ended up driving back to Laura's apartment to kiss her.

We fell in love in January 2009 while driving down I-15 towards Park City, Utah. After a month of talking on the phone, we had decided to meet for a weekend of snowboarding. The weekend trip turned into 10 days, and soon after we agreed to try dating long distance.

We met our dog Dexter in August 2009. He was just under 3 months old and came up to us with a toy nunchuck in his mouth. We fell in love instantly. He is amazing and completely irresistible despite his offensively bad breath. In his spare time, he Instagrams his daily life @thewienerdogdex.

We got engaged in July 2015 in the Dominican Republic. Everyone knew it was going to happen - except Laura - who sobbed uncontrollably.

After years of grad school (Laura), co-founding a startup (Jason), and 5 hour long drives to visit each other, the amount of time we've spent together has finally eclipsed the amount of time we've spent long distance. ♡ We are so excited to start our life together, and consider ourselves lucky to have such incredible and supportive family & friends.

We are honored to have you celebrate this beginning with us.

Bridesmaids

This is my sister, Nicole. She is an incredible teacher and coach, and is talented in ways I never will be. We may not see each other as much as we'd like, but I love her to pieces and am so happy she'll be here by my side in October!

This is Marcela. We go waaay back (she's dating Logan), and I'm truly looking forward to the years to come! She is an incredibly talented designer, is always willing to lend an ear, and has helped me with this wedding SO much!

This is Meagan. She's my best friend from grad school. I honestly wouldn't have made it without her! We spent countless hours bonding over hot cocoa, popcorn, & Netflix. She is thoughtful, generous, and simply the best.

This is Stephanie. We also go way back (she's dating Landon), and I love when we're able to get together (never often enough!). Steph is super smart, passionate about helping others, and is all around an amazing person.

Groomsmen

This is my best friend, Mike, of 20+ years. The bond that Laura and I have will never be as strong as the one I share with Mike. Laura has realized the futility in fighting this and has finally accepted it. If things don't work out with Laura, there's always Mike.

This is my brother, Logan. His passion and drive are the glue that keep the Roos Brothers united and, even though he is younger, he has become an exemplary man I look up to in so many ways. He also looks the most like me but with a small-ish head.

This is my brother, Josh. With a sense of humor as sharp and filthy as a broken beer bottle in a strip club bathroom, he adds a truly unique hurricane of color to our family. Every day is better with him in it. In true form, his photo is a selfie he took while on the toilet.

This is my brother, Landon. He is most like me, in the good ways and the bad. Even though we're separated by a great distance, I will forever be close with him and infinitely proud to be like him. Apparently, with his new muscles, he also thinks he is a model.

Honorable Mention

This is Araya. She is Jason's cousin and an excellent swimmer. We are so excited for her to be the cutest Jr. Bridesmaid and Flower Girl ever!

This is our dog, Dexter. He smells terrible and may or may not run away with the rings instead of trotting down the aisle. We love him immensely.

Laura's Family

My mother, Sharon. I owe her everything. Her strength, integrity, and unconditional love are the inspiration & support I carry with me every day. All the good things in my life are because she has helped me become who I am today - which I can only hope is very much like her.

My grandpa, Al. The center of our family. This is the man I will always look up to & always adore. When I was little, I would proudly tell people 'I look just like my Papa'. While he is quite the handsome guy, I'll strive for having his quiet strength and big heart just like him instead.

My grandma, Shirley. She is the life of our family and has the best stories & hand gestures. When you meet her, you'll instantly love her. I can't tell you how bright & beautiful my childhood was with her being such a big part of it, and how much she means to me now that I'm grown.

Jason's Family

This is my mom, Kim. Her hard work and dedication to helping people is a daily inspiration for me. She is the emotional core of our family and cares for those she loves more than anyone I know. No matter how old I get, I will always feel comforted lounging on the couch with her like I have since I was a child.

This is my dad, Les. He sacrifices everything for his family - nothing is more important. If I am half the father he has been to me and my brothers, I will consider myself extremely lucky. A penchant for lame "Dad Jokes" and an infectious laugh make him, by far, the coolest, shortest schmuck there ever was or will be.

This is my grandma, Jacqui. It's been a privilege and a blessing to have her be such a big part of my life. She makes a mean meal (especially on Christmas Day), therefore I am willing to overlook her many technology-based limitations. For a grandma, she's also pretty darn good at putting up with my sarcasm.
